Former undercover operative and author, Stephen Bentley.
Stephen Bentley is a former UK police Detective Sergeant, pioneering undercover cop, and barrister. He is now a freelance writer and an occasional contributor to Huffington Post UK on undercover policing and mental health issues.
Read this gripping true story of Britain's biggest drug bust.
In March 1978, at the culmination of Operation Julie, fifteen defendants, including doctors, research chemists, a writer, and "professional" drug dealers were sentenced to a combined total of one hundred and twenty four years imprisonment.
Operation Julie is still today the point of reference for all British undercover operations and training. In 2011, the BBC claimed this massive and unique police operation was the start of the war on drugs.
The author, Stephen Bentley, was one of four undercover detectives engaged on Operation Julie, one of the world's largest drug busts. Together with his undercover partner, he infiltrated the gang producing around 90 percent of the world's LSD and uncovered a plot to import huge quantities of Bolivian cocaine into the UK.
Bentley operated in the era of no undercover training. He improvised as he went along. He was a pioneer infiltrator left to his own devices.
The underworld knew the author as Steve Jackson. How did he successfully infiltrate the two gangs? Did he have to take drugs, and how did 'living a lie' affect him?

Authors, Suzy Davies and Sandra Barnes
Suzy Davies was born on August 7th in Reading, Berkshire, in England. Early on in life, she dreamed of writing. Then, influenced by her peers, she was persuaded she needed to earn a living first. After all, the world could do without writers. For a time, she considered being a lawyer. In fact, destiny intervened, when in spite of humble beginnings, she was offered a place - twice - at law school. But of course, she doubted she would ever be able to afford all the dining and compulsory socializing in high places that might go with the opportunity. Her love of English persuaded her that she could become a teacher, and pass on her passion. This was something real. She started out her teaching career in The Czech Republic, where she gained a Trinity College Teaching Certificate with Credit, and taught English as a Second Language to young girls aged 11 years. She was offered a permanent job at the school where she did her teaching practice, but she declined and decided to return to British shores. She went on to teach young people in Britain from all over the world and took a lead role in Curriculum Design for second language speakers. She has also taught in South Korea. These experiences help her create kids' books that are entertaining, and which appeal to diverse readers. A former Lead Teacher of English, Suzy is also a certified Life
